Cuba FFA wins Ag Business Contest Congrats to a hard working group of juniors and seniors in the Cuba Ag Dept who won the Section 12 Ag Business CDE. Agricultural Business is a weighted class and is the capstone agriculture at Cuba High School. Ag Business is also a dual credit class offering in conjunction with Spoon River College. Placing first for Cuba and the overall winner of the contest was Jolene Haggerty of Ellisville, daughter of Julie and Jerry Haggerty. 2nd was Addy Stufflebeam, 3rd was Serenidy Danner, 4th Kayla Reynolds, 5th Gerard Pacho, 6th Jessy Ward, 7th, Mike Petersen, 8th Alex Thomas, 9th was Kyler Thompson. Individual Awards went to Jolene Haggerty 1st overall, Addy Stufflebeam 5th overall and Serenidy Danner 7th and Kayla Reynolds 8th overall. Team Awards: Cuba 1st, Farmington 2nd, Spoon River Valley 3rd, Illini Central 4th, Virginia 5th and Lewistown 6th. Agricultural Business Career Development is an event to test business skills of students in business practices such as: Commodity Marketing, Economics, Taxes, Credit, Diminishing Returns, Variable and Fixed costs. Upcoming Events: Section 12 Banquet is Thursday May 7th, Cuba Graduation is Sunday May 17, FFA State Convention is June 9-10-11 in Springfield. Cuba Livestock Show Friday June 12th.
